HARANA MEN’S CHORUS
The HARANA MEN’S CHORUS is a Los Angeles-based group that performs traditional and popular songs with courtship and love themes, in various languages. The group proudly proves the skill and versatility of the Filipino vocalist by tackling entertaining pieces and vocally-demanding arrangements, resulting in an eclectic but enjoyable program. The group is made up of young professionals, musicians and singing enthusiasts who gather together to enjoy and share a love for music. Led by arranger/orchestrator Ed Nepomuceno, the Harana have performed in various fundraisers, command private performances and weddings. Their sold-out Valentine Concert "Songs From The Heart" was followed by their critically-praised participation in "Extraordinary Voices" (2010).
“Harana” or serenade, a folk tradition in the Philippines, is singing done by aspiring suitors to woo a maiden – often under the stars, the muse peering through the window. Conceptualized late 2007, members envisioned to join their voices in harmony in reminisce of the traditional "harana" yet be versatile enough to tackle complex contemporary arrangements to promote Filipino heritage, entertain and enthrall audiences with an eclectic and extensive repertoire. By February of 2008, the Harana Men's Chorus was born.
