Melvir Ausente

MELVIR AUSENTE is a voice scholar, choral conductor and well-traveled experienced chorister. He has journeyed from his hometown of Bacolod City, Philippines to graduate with degrees in Choral Conducting and Creative Performance in Music and Arts from the University ofthe Philippines.

An active and passionate musician, Melvir has participated in competitions and festivals from his student days with the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and World Youth Choir, traveling throughout Europe and Asia and has represented the Philippines in the World Youth Choir twice 2006 and 2007.

Shortly after coming to the United States, Melvir became a member-soloist of the El Paso Chamber Singers, a professional choir based in El Paso, Texas and sung with the El Paso Opera in its production of "Il Trovatore" in 2008.

Since 2009, Melvir has been performing regularly with the Los Angeles Mater Chorale (LAMC) and already had several solo opportunities including his debut at the Walt Disney Concert Hall last December 2010 as the Baritone soloist in Handel’s Messiah Sing-Along Concert. Being part of the LAMC, he also gets to perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (LAP) at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl at least three times a year. With the LAP, Melvir had the opportunity to sing solo at their North American premier of Lindberg’s Graffiti.

Although a core member and baritone soloist of the LAMC, Melvir remains grounded and continues to teach church and community choirs and private voice students.
